Job Description

Role Summary
We are seeking a dependable, experienced and safety-conscious Multi-Skilled Tradesperson to undertake carpentry, roofing, electrical and bricklaying works across domestic and commercial projects. The successful candidate will be proficient in interpreting technical drawings, organising work efficiently and completing installations, repairs and maintenance to a high standard, whilst complying fully with health and safety and regulatory requirements.

Reporting Line
Reports to: Site Supervisor / Contracts Manager.
Responsible for completing allocated tasks on time, maintaining tools and materials, keeping accurate records and liaising professionally with clients, sub-contractors and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

General Duties

Interpret drawings, specifications and method statements to determine scope of works.

Take accurate measurements and calculate material quantities.

Maintain clean, secure and safe working areas.

Complete site documentation, including time sheets and material logs.

Identify defects and carry out or report remedial works.

Co-ordinate effectively with other trades to meet deadlines.

Comply with environmental and housekeeping standards.

Carpentry & Roofing

Cut, shape and install timber and related materials using hand and power tools.

Construct and fit doors, windows, staircases, stud walls and frameworks.

Install flooring, roofing systems and drylining, ensuring alignment and stability.

Fit rafters, battens, tiles, slates, underlay, flashings and guttering.

Assemble and install joinery, cabinets and shelving.

Erect authorised access equipment and liaise with scaffold contractors when required.

Electrical / Electrical Fitting

Read and follow electrical schematics and installation drawings.

Install and terminate cabling, containment and distribution equipment.

Test, commission and fault-find installations.

Work safely on isolated systems in line with permit procedures.

Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards.

Bricklaying / Masonry

Lay bricks and blocks for walls, partitions and foundations in accordance with drawings.

Prepare and apply mortar correctly.

Undertake repairs including repointing and brick replacement.

Ensure all masonry work is level, plumb and structurally sound.

Skills & Competencies

Proficient in hand and power tools and measuring equipment.

Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately.

Strong attention to detail and practical problem-solving skills.

Good command of English and sound numeracy.

Physically fit and capable of working at height and outdoors.

Reliable, punctual and able to work independently.

Professional and courteous on occupied or client-facing sites.

Health & Safety

Adhere strictly to site health and safety regulations.

Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment at all times.

Follow risk assessments and method statements.

Report hazards and incidents promptly.

Store and dispose of materials safely.

Additional Information

This is a site-based role requiring travel between locations. Flexibility in working hours may be necessary. Relevant qualifications are advantageous; however, substantial practical experience with verifiable references will be highly valued.
